"I do believe in magic. I was born and raised in a magic time, in a magic town, among magicians. When I was twelve, the words was my magic lantern, and by its green spirit glow I saw the past, the present, and into the future. We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see out destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put in the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for Gods sake. And you know why were told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wilderness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad at what they allowed to whither in themselves. After you get so far away fro it, though, you cant really get it back. You can have seconds of it. Just seconds of knowing and remembering. When people get all weepy at movies, its because in that dark theatre, the golden pool of magic is touched, just briefly. Then they come out into the hard sun of logic and reason again and it dries up, and theyre left feeling a little heartsad and not knowing why. For the briefest of instants, you have stepped into the magic realm. The truth of life is that every year we get farther away from the essence that is born within us. We get shouldered with burdens, some of them good, some of them not so good. Things happen to us. Loved ones die. People get in wrecks, and get crippled. Its not hard to do, in this world of crazy mazes. Life itself does its best to take that memory of magic away from us. You dont know its happening until one day you feel like youve lost something, but youre not sure what it is."  -Robert McCammon

"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in a square hole, the ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo.You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them, because they change things. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, and are the ones who'll do it." -  Apple Computer TV Ad

Reading and reflecting on inspiring life quotes, learning what famous people have said, and applying it to oneself is a form of self-growth. By introspection, people become stronger, more understanding, and more tolerant.

Quotations are not simply aphorisms to put on a poster and hang on the wall. Comparing a quotation to the life of the sweet person who said it or wrote it gives context and meaning to the words. If taken to heart, it can change a person's attitude in life or help in reaching a goal.

The quotes that follow are from modern and historical famous and influential people. Whether the people lived long ago, or are alive today, they are role models. These quotes motivate and inspire people to do more, achieve goals and improve their lives.

VAGABOND's HOUSE -Poem- (shortened)

West of the sunset stands a house, there... and east of the dawn; North to the Arctic runs my yard; South to the Pole, my lawn; Seven seas are to sail my ships. To the end of the earth ... beyond. Drifters' gold is for me to spend for I am a vagabond. Fabulous cities are mine to loot. Queens of the earth to wed; fruits of the world are mine to eat; the couch of the king, my bed. All that I see is mine to keep. Foolish, the fancy seems. But I am rich with the world of Sight. The coin of the realm of dreams. When I have a I sometime may ... I'll suit my fancy in every way. I'll fill it with things that have caught my eye in drifting from Iceland to Molakai. It won't be correct or in period style. But ... oh, I've thought for a long, long while. - Don Blanding

GOLD  - Poem-

My treasure chest is filled with gold.
Gold . . . gold . . . gold . . .
Vagabond's gold and drifter's gold . . .
Worthless, priceless, dreamer's gold . . .
Gold of the sunset . . . gold of the dawn . . .Gold of the showertrees on my lawn . . .
Poet's gold and artist's gold . . .
Gold that can not be bought or sold -
Gold. - Don Blanding
